The Bible reveals two ways which people are following to get into heaven. One way, the true way, is God’s way. God’s way into heaven is the way of peace and truth and righteousness. It is the only way approved of God. This way centers in the Lord Jesus Christ who said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me” (John 14:6). The Bible declares that there is another way. “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Prov. 14:12).
There are so many popular ways today filled with lost multitudes all over the land, such as the way of morality, the way of respectability, the way of religion, the way of churchianity, the way of baptism, the way of christening, the way of confirmation, the way of penance, the way of confession, the way of “doing the best I can”, the way of self, the way of education, the way of philosophy, the way of false isms and cults that crowd the street. Little wonder then when we speak to people about the way of salvation, that so many have asked, “How can I know which is the true way? There are so many different ideas and so many religions.”
But there is ONE difference between God’s way of salvation and man’s way, and that difference is found in a Person, the Lord Jesus Christ. You will notice that man leaves Christ out of the center of his way. You will discover that the modern false cults and isms demote Christ to a mere man and add something to what He has already done for your salvation and mine. We become children of God through a supernatural birth. Jesus said to Nicodemus: “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). Jesus also said, “Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again” (John 3:7)

Another great aspect of the ministry of Peoples Gospel Hour is warning the people of God from the Apostasy and compromises which is so prevalent in our day. The Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy and told him to “ preach the Word,” but that is not all he told him. He said, “ Reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.” Many preachers obey that part they want to obey. They say, “ Preach the word,” “All right, we will do that”. But they don’t want to do the rest of it. The command to Reprove, rebuke and exhort is just as strong as the command to preach the word.
In every generation, faithful contenders for the faith must face newer forms of satanic attack against the inerrant Word of God. Genuine Fundamentalists are also militant battlers for the faith and thus also for the truth. Yes, successful battling for the faith involves militancy, a trait without which no soldier for the cross can be successful if he ignores this important trait. Militancy, a term that was once the hallmark of Biblicist Fundamentalist movement has fallen into disuse and disrepute in recent years within the professing Fundamentalist camp.
Militant Fundamentalists who have stood unwaveringly for the faith for many decades are now being tagged by weaker brethren with the same fallacious labels as the New-Evangelicals previously applied to ardent defenders of the faith. We at The Peoples Gospel Hour ministry firmly believe that historic Fundamentalism is militant Fundamentalism. Militancy is not a term to be abhorred! With the greatest conviction we believe that it is impossible to engage in necessary Scriptural battles apart from militancy. Unfortunately, many formerly “fighting” Fundamentalists have become “fearful” and “frightened” Fundamentalists who shun any and all forms of controversy. We at PGH strongly believe that “ if we are not contending, then we are compromising.” Surely, this militant contention must NEVER be over a brother-in-Christ’s personality. But always his position.
Undoubtedly the biggest problem within professing Fundamentalists today is not the open compromise, but the silence of many brethren who should be speaking about vital issues, instead keeping their mouths closed and shut. During this lengthy ministry and and his three missionary journeys, Paul never backed down from a necessary battle. He vigilantly fought against the evil forces of sin, Satan and apostasy.
In the Apostle Paul’s treatises in 1st and 2nd Timothy, penned to his younger pastor, friend and co-laborer in Christ, the veteran contender for the faith uses a great deal of military language where he exhorts Timothy to wage a militant warfare against against the world, the flesh, and the devil. In 1st Timothy 1:18 Paul exhorts Timothy with a staunch charge to wage a strong warfare against the enemies of the faith. “ This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightiest war a good warfare.” while in 2nd Timothy 4:12, he entreats Timothy to “ fight the good fight of faith.”
In 2nd Timothy 2:3, Paul reiterates this military oriented command when he admonishes Timothy to “endure hardness as a good solder of Jesus Christ” and goes on to note that “ no man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who has chosen him to be a soldier.” Then just before his final “sign-off” prior to his martyrdom, Paul sums up his battles for the faith, when he states in 2nd Timothy 4:17 “ I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” without question, the writings of the Apostle Paul are laced with terminology that speaks about his militant battling for the faith. Yes, Paul battled against every heresy and false teaching that he ever met.
- He valiantly contested the Charismatic heretics at Corinth.
- He vigorously fought the the Gnostics at Phillipe;
- He battled with the Judaizes at Galatia and he combated the false teachers in Rome.
In 2nd Timothy Paul delineated the nature of the apostates as being, “ profane and vain babbling,” but then he also disclosed the names of the apostates in that same page as being Hymenaeus and Philetus. In 2nd Timothy 4:10, Paul exposed the nature of the compromisers as one who “ loved this present evil word,” but he also exposed the name of the compromiser – Demas – in the same verse. Paul’s militant battling continued right up to his death. As he prepared to lay aside his earthly uniform and leave his bodily tabernacle in which he had vigorously battled the world, the flesh and the devil all his life.
Battles We Must Confront and Face Today:
Now, there are three major areas in which we have to wage the battle (contend) with regards to the apostasy and compromises of our day.
The Manuscript Battle: In every generation, faithful contenders for the faith must face newer forms of satanic attack against the inerrant Word of God. While Biblical Fundamentalists must be spiritually gracious in their spirit toward those with whom they contend on this issue, they must also possess strong grits in their stand with those with whom they disagree. We at the PGH ministry strongly believe that the Bible text issue is not a minor issue today, it is a major battleground where obedient believers must take an unwavering stand. The ecumenical based defective Scriptures are going to wind up supporting the ecumenical one world church that will eventually result in a false ecumenical savior – the Anti-Christ. Thus ardent believers of our day need that reminder constantly that we can not afford to loose this battle on the word of God. Thus the importance of vigilantly contending for the faith as Jude exhorted in his Epistle.
God’s Word is not Negotiable!
The Music Battle: This is a second battleground where discerning Fundamentalists must valiantly contest for the truth. Perhaps more than the manuscripts battle, this issue is literally tearing apart sound churches today. Formerly sound New Testament churches are gradually weakening their resistance to the religious rock sounds, called Contemporary Christian Music (CCM). With new subtle CCM sounds coming down the religious pike literally every week, perceptive Fundamentalists must raise the battle cry loud and clear in this war that is a conflict against sensual sounds. The current CCM strategy is taking sound Biblical words and putting them into a subtle put also sensual strain of music. On this front Fundamental Churches must wage vigilant battle!!
One can not take Scriptural truths, sensualize it with unwholesome sounds and then pawn it off as genuine spiritual music! Ecclesiastics 7:4, states that it is better for a man “ to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.” Yes, the “Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs” of Colossians 3:16 do not included nay worldly beat and sounds. We at the PGH ministry not only use old fashioned Christian musics which the Lord has blessed down through the generations, but we also encourage listeners to acquire these timeless hymns in their homes and churches, for family home worship, for personal edification, and for personal ministry.

The Moral Battle: This battle is first and foremost a standards battle. We believe this is the third important battleground where Fundamentalist must constantly wage war. While our Evangelistic N.T. Churches should welcome visitors even if their clothing styles represent the shoddy, slopy, sensual molds of the ungodly world, our churches must maintain platform standards that manifest the difference in lifestyle by modest clothing that is distinctively male and female. Yes, Christian husbands and wives should wear modest clothing that distinctively agree with their God-given gender, where both the dress and the decorum agree, 1st Peter 3
While the clothing can be stylish, it must never be worldly or immodest. As we stated before we at the PGH are not a substitute for a church; therefore we do not set the standards in Churches where we fellowship and labor. Therefore we do not seek to impose our standards on others. We fellowship freely with believers whose standards may not meet our personal convictions, letting our lifestyle and clothing speak for itself.
